Running Windows XP, tome3.exe (non-SDL) gives me a black screen on startup instead of babyface. The menu ‘works’ I just can’t see it. This is new with alpha16. The menu was visible in alpha15.

And the sdl version works fine? That's probably due to the massive internal changes to numeric types. Iain said he'd look at it after his holidays, but anyway SDL is the future :)

If you have not removed you .tome directory before updating to alpha16 then for a start I would recommend you removing the .tome\3.0\settings\win.cfg file and see if that helps out, just as a side note... "it works for me" on a clean install :)

Just a note: over the past month I've happened to install alpha16 on two others windows machines, and saw two different results: on one I was able to start the game and create a character, but the game locked within the first ten steps of momvent. (Repeatably) But, on another I was able to play the non-SDL version with no difficulty whatsoever. In all cases, SDL works fine.

Reopened since this still isn't fixed.

Has anyone gotten this bug outside of Windows? Outside of Babyface?

This is now applicable to Alpha19 as well.
